Lomography recently announced the release of a brand new medium format camera called the Belair X 6-12. This is obviously very exciting news for all of us medium format lovers. Here is a first look at it.
The Belair X 6-12 is a beautiful retro-looking camera that is available in two versions – the Jetsetter (shown above) and a black version called the City Slicker. One of the features that makes the camera unique is the auto-exposure function. It has an electronic automatic shutter system “that makes shooting perfectly exposed photos as easy as clicking the shutter”, according to Lomography.
The camera comes with an interchangeable lens system that has two lenses in the lineup: one 90mm normal lens and one 58mm wide-angle lens. Lomography are also working on several other new lenses that are expected to be released soon.
Another cool feature of this medium format camera is the possibility to shoot photos in 3 different formats: 6 x 12 panoramas, standard 6 x 9 photographs as well as the classic 6 x 6 square. Take a look at some example photos:

I really hope that the release of this camera will attract some attention to medium format photography and 120 film. If you would like to get your hands on a Belair camera take a look at the Belair microsite for further information.
